Website Sponsorship Mission update
As of June 1st, 2023:
Exactly 13 months after the initial research into this sponsorship was started, we have received this very first communication on May 31, 2023, from the IRCC:
This email confirms that your sponsorship application under the Private Sponsorship of Refugees program has been reviewed and based on the documents submitted, the sponsors appear to be eligible and have the financial and settlement support capacity to sponsor pursuant to section 153, paragraph 154(1)(a) and (b) and subsection 156(1) of the IRPR. Sponsors must continue to meet all program requirements and may be required to submit updated documents in support of this application up until a final decision is made on the permanent residence application or visas are issued. Failure to continuously meet the program requirements may result in the refusal of the sponsorship undertaking and subsequent refusal of the permanent resident application. Once the refugee arrives in Canada, all parties to the undertaking are jointly and severally or solidarity liable. Sponsors may be subject to post-arrival monitoring.
The file will now be transferred to the appropriate IRCC office abroad where a decision will be made on the refugeeās application for permanent residence.
Another step on the long journey has been completed.
